Our Product Cycle

We spend each fall coming up with new designs and then set to work during the winter on getting those designs sculpted, molded, poured, cleaned, fired, glazed and then fired again to produce our inventory for the summer season.

Standard Mugs, Deluxe Mugs, Proofs, Designer’s Editions

We love making mugs, we really do. However, it is a very labor intense and slow process that severely limits our ability to make a large ammount of mugs at a quality we find acceptable. We will typically do 20 to 25 of each piece (new for the year, and some past years items) in it’s standard color glaze each season. For the new mugs coming out, as we do tests of the mug trying to come up with how we want our standard one to be, we end up creating a few Proof mugs. Then sometimes we have a mug that we think really benefits from a little more time and effort, but if we did it with each of them, they would be prohibitively expensive, so we only do a 3-5 of them in a Deluxe Edition. And finally, sometimes we just feel the need to push the envelope with a mug, so we create and specially detail a couple and release them as a Designer’s Editions.

As they become available, the Standard and Deluxe mugs will be made available on Etsy, and the one-off Proofs and Designer’s Editions will be auctioned on eBay.

Price List

For the Standard and Deluxe mugs (anything that isn’t a one off), they are the same price if you buy them from us at a show or if you get them from Etsy. Ok, if you buy them on Etsy there is shipping also, but the mug price is the same. Please see our price list below for the 2010 season.
